The following is an excerpt from my upcoming novel, "The Last Days of Summer. " "The sun beat down on the pavement as Mina walked down the street, her sandals slapping against the hot concrete. She squinted against the glare, her eyes watering from the bright light. She had never been one for summer, the heat and humidity making her feel sticky and uncomfortable. But this year, something was different. This year, she felt a sense of freedom that she had never experienced before. Maybe it was the new job, or maybe it was the new boyfriend, but whatever it was, Mina was determined to make the most of it. She turned the corner, the familiar sight of the beach coming into view. The waves crashed against the shore, the salty spray cooling her skin. She took a deep breath, feeling the ocean breeze fill her lungs. This was where she belonged, by the sea, surrounded by the sound of the waves and the cries of the seagulls. As she walked along the beach, Mina noticed the other beachgoers, their laughter and chatter filling the air.
As ondas partiram contra a costa, o spray salgado arrefeceu a pele dela.
