My life has been a winding path, full of twists and turns, that have led me to where I am today - a proud owner of a one-of-a-kind culinary chronicle that reflects my diverse heritage and experiences. Born and raised on the outskirts of Cape Town, South Africa, I grew up in a close-knit family that has resided in our hometown for generations. Our heritage is a product of centuries of colonization, enslavement, and intermarriage between people from Asia, Africa, and Europe, resulting in a colorful blend of Eastern, Western, and African traditions. My journey began in South Africa, where I spent six years teaching English, before moving to South Korea and eventually settling in the American South with my husband. Each stop along the way has shaped me into the person I am today, and has influenced the recipes that fill the pages of this book.
